Douglas Kirkland is a multi award-winning celebrity photographer whose subjects range from Elizabeth Taylor, Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn to Jack Nicholson, Angelina Jolie, George Clooney and Elle Fanning. His career spans over sixty years and his photographs are in the permanent collections of museums around the world. Some of his books include Freeze Frame, Coco Chanel Three Weeks, Marilyn - An Evening 1961 and a comprehensive monograph on his career, Douglas Kirkland - A Life in Pictures came out in the Fall of 2013. Come Una Pin Up, a playful homage to illustrator Gil Elvgren was published in Italy in the summer of 2014. A limited deluxe edition of his last book, When We Were Young, premiered with a successful exhibition at the Mouche Gallery in Beverly Hills for Valentine Day 2015. A larger updated version Freeze Frame : Second Cut published by Glitterati Inc. will come out in the Fall of 2016.
In the summer of 2015, he received a special Nastri D'Argento (Silver Ribbon) at the International Taormina Film Festival.
He has enjoyed a long-term career spanning over fifty years with no sign of slowing down. When he is not traveling the globe on assignment with his wife and business partner Francoise, his home and studio is in the Hollywood Hills.
