You've made the work, now what?  Where do I find a grant? How do I assess what's the best fit? How to I go about constructing a narrative? A budget? How do I approach a curator or foundation administrator - the government? Through practical exercises, group discussion and role playing, the day long workshop promises to familiarize you with granting sources, get you comfortable with the application process, guide the construction of your virtual portfolio and grant toolbox and demystify funding systems. You will walk away with practical knowledge of the process, a confidence in your ability to finance your projects and have enjoyed a day of lively collegial exchange and skill building.

Donna McNeil

Donna McNeil is the Co-Director of Artists in Context and the former Executive Director of the Maine Arts Commission. She has served as a juror for the National Endowment for the Arts, Baker Artist Awards, St Botolph Awards, MacArthur Foundation, Piscataquis Artist Advancement grant and worked extensively with Creative Capital Foundation. She holds a BFA in Painting from Syracuse University, an MLA in Art History from Harvard University and an honorary Doctorate in Fine Arts from the Maine College of Art. Donna has devoted a lifetime to the arts in both the for-profit and nonprofit sectors, holding directorial and curatorial positions in galleries, museums and the performing arts.
