Letterpress printing is a type of relief printing, in which images and text can be re-produced by the repeated direct impression of an inked, raised surface against paper.
This class teaches each student to make a set of custom, hand-printed letterpress cards. All levels are welcome and students are free to make any type of card they might need in the new year—greeting cards, personalized stationary, announcement cards, or maybe even Valentine’s Day greetings! Students will have access to quality papers and a lovely gold ink to make beautiful, quality, hand-crafted cards.
Students are encouraged to bring their message ideas for cards, including any desired Illustrations. Illustrations may include: line art drawings, children’s art, clip art, handwritten text, etc. Under the guidance of Anneli and Sal, students will finalize their designs and then learn how to use the photopolymer plate maker and the two Vandercook Universal presses in the Maine Media Book Arts Studio in order to execute their projects.
Includes lunch each day.
Enrollment limited to SIX!
