Charlotte Hornsby headshotCharlotte Hornsby is a New York-based cinematographer and filmmaker whose work includes narrative feature films, documentaries, music videos, commercials and short films. Her films have garnered attention at festivals such as SXSW, BAM Cinemafest, BFI London Film Festival and the Sundance Film Festival, and have appeared on Showtime, Peacock, Amazon, and other major platforms.

Her feature and TV cinematography credits include MASTER (Amazon Studios), THE GOOD MOTHER, CHANTILLY BRIDGE, GOOD TIMING (Peacock), ONCE UPON A RIVER, and MATT ROGERS: HAVE YOU HEARD OF CHRISTMAS? (Showtime). She also did additional photography for MADELINE’S MADELINE, which was nominated for a 2019 Independent Spirit Award for Cinematography.  American Cinematographer magazine featured MASTER, the film she shot for Amazon Studios, in their 2022 Sundance Standouts. The film also earned her recognition by BAFTA who named her a 2023 BAFTA Breakthrough.

Her directing and co-directing credits include commercial work featuring Beyoncé for Vogue, a spot for Adidas, and music videos featuring bands and musicians such as Sunflower Bean, Jay Som, Kissing is a Crime, and Cornelia Murr.  She also co-shot and edited a short film on the songwriting process and jam sessions that led to Solange Knowle’s album, A SEAT AT THE TABLE. Other directing credits include the short film THE SOMERSET and AFTER AFTER PARTY.

She shot two short films that won The Short Film Jury Award for U.S. Fiction at Sundance (LUCIA, BEFORE AND AFTER, directed by Anu Valia, in 2017; and HAIR WOLF, directed by Mariama Diallo, in 2018). Charlotte is returning to Sundance and SXSW in 2024 with BUST for director Angalis Field and WE STRANGERS for director Anu Valia. 

Charlotte is an alum of Maine Media Workshops.
