Foundations of Photography Intensive Workshops
Week 1: First Mentored Week
In addition to the workshops, you will be paired with a mentor from our resident faculty who will assist your creative development.
Week 2: The Magic of the iPhone Camera
Learn how to unlock the full potential of your iPhone camera and the many photography apps while exploring and capturing the wondrous midcoast of Maine with professional photographer, TIllman Crane.
Week 3: Digital Photography I
Dive head first into digital photography. Learn how to use your camera and the key visual concepts and software to create stunning photographs. Guided by veteran photography teacher Terry Abrams, Learn the basic controls of your digital camera while using key visual concepts to create photographs in daily exercises. You will learn to use Adobe Lightroom Classic software to import, organize, and output your images while practicing image adjustments and creative processing controls.
Week 4: Digital Photography II
Learn how to take your images to the next level while exploring and photographing Maine's beautiful scenery. Guided by veteran photography teacher Terry Abrams, you will build upon existing knowledge of Adobe Lightroom Classic and dive into Adobe Photoshop. The course begins with a review of the camera and Lightroom Classic essentials, then introduces the practice of combining images to create panoramic photographs, High Dynamic Range exposures, and focus-stacked images. These methods explore the digital techniques of extending the visual image frame and resolution, extending the dynamic range of the camera, and extending the depth of focus beyond what the aperture alone can achieve.
Week 5: Second Mentored Week
In addition to the workshops, you will be paired with a mentor from our resident faculty who will assist your creative development.
Week 6: Finding and Developing a Photographic Style
Guided by David Brommer, delve deep into your personal work while learning the anatomy of photographic style, forging a unique and definable style that you can call your own.
